YouTube Video Embed Optimization

Using the built in Video Element to present a youtube video using embed code youtube gives freely regretfully is extremely slow and gets flagged by pagespeed.web.dev in testing.

I have searched the forum for over an hour looking for someone who has found the same problem and failed. I am sorry if this is repeated but I truly tried.

Does anyone have a cornerstone workaround for applying a simple optimisation of the video embed. It seems simple enough, a bit of javascript to show the cover photo and only load youtube js when the user clicks. I found a way without the video embed but naturally I’m surprised the best wordpress theme ever just doesn’t automate this for us with the standard video element. It’s a bit crappy to have to revert us users to repetitively code so much with something so simple.

Thanks for the help.
Cheers !

Hey @Benja,

Thanks for reaching out!

Regretfully, we can’t provide any support regarding performance optimization because it is outside the scope of our theme support. You may seek 3rd party developers to help you with your issue or you can avail our newly launched product called Boost, which we can help you with your site speed optimization.

You may also check our performance documentation.

Thank you for understanding.

Thanks for taking the time. Good to know I am on the right track and the built in youtube video embed is useless if one cares about organic traffic from search.

Hi @Benja,

Glad that we are able to guide you on this.

Thanks
