Yoast SEO 5.8 plugin preventing site from loading

After updating the Pro theme to v1.2.7 and the Yoast SEO plugin to v5.8, my site won’t load any pages. Once I deactivate the Yoast plugin, then everything works again. When the plugin is activated, it seems to work fine on the back end but front end of the website will not load. Anyone else having this issue?

Hello @deniss33,

Thanks for asking.

On my local setup I upgraded Yoast SEO to latest version 5.8 and the WordPress instance I have on local setup is working fine. I did a Google search to see if extended Yoast SEO users facing any issues, on wordpress.org it seems that couple of users are facing compatibility issues. Unfortunately Yoast SEO being 3rd party plugin, we have limited control on it’s functionality and any issues arising due to this falls outside the scope of support we can offer. At the moment I suggest you to downgrade the plugin to earlier stable release and wait for some more time to get more clarity from Yoast SEO developers.

On a friendly note, I would also recomend you that before upgrading any plugin or software please take a look at changelog. If the developer (theme or plugin) has released major update, I would highely recomend you to test the same on a staging server before updating plugin on live website. Any problem that may arise because of updating plugin and or theme you can troubleshoot without affecting live website. Once the problem has been fixed test server, you can perform update on live website. If possible please make sure that the staging environment is using the same server on which you are hosting live website.

Thanks for understanding
