X Theme Won't Install

Hi, I’ve just purchased X Theme and cannot get the install to work. From the Wordpress dashboard I go to Appearance > Themes and then upload the x.zip file. Once it’s installed, I upload the x-child.zip file. Then I click Activate.

When I do that I get an error message that says, “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”

If I go back to the main themes page, I see that there is a blank, nameless theme that is now selected. I still cannot activate the child theme or x theme. The top of the screen also says “ERROR: Style sheet missing.” Attaching a screenshot of this page.

Please help.

Thanks for writing in.

It could be related to role or capability, or your account role has no admin capability. You should create new admin user and disable any role related plugins (eg. membership or similar).

I am the admin user and there are no other plugins. I just set up wordpress on that domain. I’m currently the only user. Then I immediately installed x theme.

Any other suggestions?

Hi There,

You can also try extracting your zip files and upload into your themes directory by connecting through your FTP.

/wp-content/themes/

Then try activating your X theme or child theme.

I tried installing through wordpress. Then I deleted all the files and reinstalled wordpress and tried installing by upload the themes directly through /wp-content/themes. Still didn’t work. Tried installing through wordpress once again.

In that case, would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? Please provide following information:

Set it as Secure Note

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password
  • FTP credentials

Thanks. I added the secure not to my comment above. That was the only way I could figure out how to do it.

Will get the FTP credentials in one sec and add those above too.

I just experienced the same thing. I think what I had to do was upload the x-theme inside of the x.zip file. Something about the way we were doing it first causes the stylesheet to be missing. I did a search on x theme missing stylesheet to find the answer…I’ll keep looking for you, too.

Your WordPress installation was corrupted. I have resolved those issues for you and then installed X theme & Child theme. Now you can move forward.

iam having installation problem. when i download from themeforest and tried it gives failed “are you sure you want to continue?” and i retried but still failed. and the X.Zip says failed again. please help

HI there,

If you have downloaded the full zip file in Themeforest, you will have to extract the zip file and find x.zip in themeforest-xxxxx-x-the-theme.zip\x_package, Use the x.zip to install in Appearance >Themes.

Another way to install the theme is to manually install it through FTP. Login through FTP and go to wp-content/themes then place the unzipped x folder inside the theme directory. Login to the admin and activate the theme.
