X Theme Update Issue

Hi there,

Here is a link to my site: http://www.bondconstructionlondon.co.uk/

I’ve just updated my X Theme to the latest version and there are multiple problems caused from doing so. Please could you advise as to what would most likely be causing this issue?

Many thanks.
Leo

I’ve also updated all of my plugins and am now only getting an HTTP Error 500 message so it has completely disappeared.

Please help!

Hi Leo,

Thank you for reaching out to us. Upon checking the source code of your site, it still shows that X is not updated and using an outdated version i.e v5.2.5 with the latest version of Cornerstone. However the latest version of X is v7.1.2

If you’ve updated X already like you mentioned then this could be the cache issue, After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

If the issue persists then please get back to us with theURL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard as well using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Thanks!

Thank you very much for your response. I’ve managed to recover it since updating everything to the latest version.

I have limited the issue down to a problem with the Revolution Slider plugin - I am being told that I am unable to activate the plugin because a fatal error was detected and I have been given the same message as before:

Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/sites/bondconstructionlondon.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/includes/functions.class.php on line 1004

Could you suggest anything I can do so that I can re-activate the plugin without the issue?

Thank you in advance for your excellent support.

Also, I am now unable to edit any pages using Cornerstone - they just stay on the loading screen and never actually load.

Hey Leo,

We’re sorry to hear that Cornerstone is not loading. Please give us WordPress Admin access so we could check the error.

Thanks.

I have added a secure note with a login to my previous post as I wasn’t able to add a secure note to your reply.

Please see the post here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/x-theme-update-issue/70000/5?u=leowinspear

Do you also know why I can’t activate the Revolution Slider?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Leo,

The username or password you’ve given doesn’t work. Please check.

We’ll know why you can’t activate Slider Revolution when we can log in to your WP Admin.

Thanks.

Apologies, I have now amended the password.

Please see in the post here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/x-theme-update-issue/70000/5?u=leowinspear

Thanks again.

Hi Leo,

Please update your Wordpress to the latest version as well (5.3.2 as of this writing). Your current WP version is slightly behind (5.1.4).

Updating WordPress

Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Another thing that you need to update is your PHP version. Your current PHP version is 5.3.28, while the Wordpress recommends 7.3 or greater.

Wordpress Requirements

Please contact your hosting support on how to update your PHP version effectively.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

I’ve contacted my host and updated the PHP version and then updated to the latest Wordpress and now everything is running smoothly!

Thank you very much for all of your help, it’s greatly appreciated.

You’re most welcome,

Cheers!
