I uploaded the X theme to my blog today and it Published 8 “Demo” posts on my blog today. My subscribers all got email updates to them! Whats going on?

There should be no demo content that automatically gets added to your site when you upload X especially when you did not activate it.
Did you happen to activate X and import some demo content? If so, that might have caused the email since importing demo contents would add some new posts on the site which triggered the email.
