If I disable X pro to trouble shoot a plugin, will all my formatting get lost? I am very scared of disabling the theme because I feel like I’ve been told by Apex that all my work will be lost. Can you please let me know how to best handle this if I need to disable the theme to troubleshoot a problem plugin? Thank you.
Hello Bryan,
Thanks for posting in!
If you switched between themes, all the theme related styling will not be displayed of course. That is because the theme options, Pro > Theme Options settings will not be loaded since the Pro theme is not active. Once you activate the Pro theme back again, it should display the formatting again.
When testing for a plugin conflict, you can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
Hope this helps.
Okay, great. I do know it is a WooCommerce plugin problem. I just want to make sure I will not lose all I designed with my X theme. They advised me to do the following. Is this safe to do?
I’m sorry to read this, let’s try to figure this out! As a first step can you please:
- Disable ALL extensions
- Switch temporarily to a WordPress default theme like TwentyTwenty or our theme
- Update WooCommerce
- Try to activate WooCommerce
If that works, then:
- re-activate your previous theme
- re-activate the other extensions one by one
if at some point it fails, you will target the culprit with this method.
Hello Bryan,
Yes, that is safe to do.
