X Pro Permissions Not Working User role

Hi,

I’ve had the new X Pro user settings setup and in place for a while now, but I’ve recently had to go into a client account and I’ve seen that they have access to the header & footer, both from the WP dashboard and from the Pro builder pages (white interface)

She is set to “editor status”

These have been switched off (green light is off), but when I either login with her account or I create an editor account, I still have complete access to the header and footer.

I only have pages, posts and portfolio switched on.

The site has a few users set to “author” who have no permissions for Pro at all and for them, the menu doesn’t show up in the WP dashboard at all (as intended)

I am using “user role editor” plugin to manage access on a per user level basis, but I don’t see any X Pro options here to switch on and off so can’t see it could be conflicting.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Dan

Hi @DannyC,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear you’re having this issue.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what’s causing this issue as of yet. Would you mind providing the site’s URL, admin login credentials, and the editor login credentials in a secure note?

And if there any active cache, please deactivate them first (especially related to database and mem cache).

Thanks!

Great, thanks. Secure note attached to replicate the issue.

Cheers

Hi @DannyC,

I can’t find what’s causing this, but looks like the role is modified. I tried it with a clean installation and the permission works okay for Editor role. Could you try installing a new copy on your site (maybe in a subfolder) and test it there? What’s the last changes in your site you made before this happened? You can try that on your new copy as well to confirm it.

Thanks!

Do you think it’s possibly the user role editor causing a conflict?

Essentially as the header and footer are posts types, I see these show up in user role editor and you can set permissions for custom post types.

It’s this plugin > https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/

Is it possible this is causing the issue?

I kind need this to stop managed clients messing with themes and plugins and overall site design and css, but allow them to add or update content,

Dan

Hey Dan,

Yes user role editor plugin could be conflicting with the theme. Test for a plugin conflict. Try deactivating all third party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how this goes!.
