when i go to update page in wp admin it says to validate x.

What version of X are you using ? If you are using a version before 4.64 you will need to perform a manual update at this time.
To do that you will need to access your site via FTP remove X from wp-content/themes and Cornerstone from wp-content/plugins
Download a fresh version of the theme from your Apex dashboard and re-install it.
Access your Apex license page remove the URL and add it again.
Copy the purchase code and add to Wp Admin | X
If you are using 4.64 and beyond, just try to revoke the license, from Wp Admin > X(Addons) and from your Apex license page and enter the url and the license again.
