For some reason on 2 websites I have developed, x-icons aren’t working. They work on the staging site and also in cornerstone on the production site, but are not showing up on the actual pages. In its place is little square boxes.

You’re most probably using a child theme in your site and you have overridden the icon setup. Please do the Font Awesome troubleshooting steps listed here https://theme.co/docs/font-awesome-icon-issues
