X and Cornerstone wont launch

I have 2 sites that are running X and the same hosting. One site is working while the other is not. I have disabled pluggin but I am still getting the never ending loader for both cornerstone and launching X. I have X theme 5.1.1 and am current on WP. I have a memory_limit at 128M (I do not know how to edit the file in wp-config.php to change or increase the limit to a higher 512M limit) I am not a developer- I have been able to find the file in filezilla but it wont open to view/edit.

Jason

Hello Jason,

Thanks for writing in! We recommend that you increase your memory allocated to PHP. To increase it, please edit your wp-config.php file and insert these lines:

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );

You can add it before the line
/*That's all, stop editing! Happy Blogging. */

We would loved to know if this has work for you. Thank you.

I have edited the wp-config.php in dreamweaver and uploaded it back into filezilla. Is there a way to check that the memory code has actually worked. My hosting provider brought me to phpinfo.php on my site to look for memory_limit. I don’t know if I should see a change to the 128M, but it still shows. The filezilla said the tranfer was successful, but I don’t think the code increased the memory. (Please be aware I am not a developer or coder) so all of this is pretty new to me. Either way no change to X or Cornerstone.

Hi There,

Actually some hosting providers do not allow to override these settings. To make sure those changes are affected, install a plugin like WP-Serverinfo (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-serverinfo/) to check your current server configurations and settings.

Once you install & activate the plugin, head over to Dashboard -> WP Serverinfo link.

Thanks!

Okay- installed and activated. Is this what I am looking for to see if the wp-config edits took hold?

PHP Memory Limit 512.0 MiB

Still no change to X or Cornerstone. Is there another step?

Hi There,

Yes It seems that the changes are affected. Also check your PHP Max Execution Time and set it for 300 for optimal usage.

Head over to permalink settings (General -> Permalinks) and set Postname save changes to re-create your .htaccess file.

Then try to launch Cornerstone and see if helps.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

PHP Max Script Execute Time 30s

If this is the same how do I edit the time to read 300?

Hi There,

If you don’t have any option to change those configurations from your hosting provider’s control panel (usually there will be a section similar to PHP Settings or PHP INI), try following this guide (http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-fatal-error-maximum-execution-time-exceeded-in-wordpress/).

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hi There,

Just undo the last change that you have done and provide us with login credentials so we can take a closer look. Please provide following information:

Set it as Secure Note

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password
  • FTP credentials

Thanks!

I tested Cornerstone in your site and it is working.

Please clear your browser cache or try other browsers or incognito mode and test again.

Thanks.

Okay works in incognito mode- was that it? or did other issues need to be fixed? Would that be your recommendation to build in incognito?

I am glad it is working thank you. Jason

Hi there,

No, you do not need to work in Incognito mode. My colleague suggested that as it does not incorporate the browser cache. If you clear your browser cache it will work ok.

You also can use another browser which you have never checked your website with to make sure there is no cache involved.

Thank you.

same problem here

Hi Guys,

Please each open a different thread since there are different possibilities for the cause. Please explain your situation briefly on the new thread and provide your login credentials in a secure note.

@wbradfordco - Please change your WP password and open a new trhead and provide the new password in a secure note.

Thank you

Took care of this – thanks for your help in advance! I love the theme.

Confirming you all got my message/info to fix this. Client has started asking about progress. :frowning:

Hello @wbradfordco,

At this time we kindly ask that you open up your issue in a separate thread along with your login credentials because it is no longer accessible. The longer threads get in the forum, they become more difficult to support as they tend to drift off topic and they also make it troublesome for users trying to search for solutions. Keeping threads relevant to their original inquiry ensures that we can keep better track of what has been resolved and that users can more effectively find answers to similar issues they might be experiencing.

Thank you for your understanding.

I attempted to do this but it was corrected. I’ll try again…

Thank you!
