WPML - Using the Advanced Translation Editor

Hi. We need to start to implement multi-language content on our website, and we have bought/installed WPML. I am slightly confused in regard to using the Advanced Translation Editor. I know you can translate “manually” in the Pro editor, by switching and copying content from the original language. But, we would like to send translations to external translators and would like to have a strictly text-based approach to the translations.

I have read through this forum, and in some posts, it looks like using the Advanced Translation Editor should work, but in other places it looks like this is not the case.

When we use the Advanced Translation Editor on pages built in the Pro page builder, all text strings show, and we are able to add the translations to the specific strings. But, when we try to view the translated version of the page, the page is totally blank. Only loading the Header/footer.

Does anyone have any experience using the Advanced Translation Editor, and that it actually works, in combination with pages built with Pro?

Hi @rayvn,

Thank you for reaching out about this. We’ve recently been in touch with WPML about some conflicts with Pro (translations not always syncing up) and they are working on an integration that will be part of WPML 4.5. They recommend using the Advanced Translation Editor in the meantime. I’m not sure why you would be getting a blank page. This might be something WPML’s team would be able to advise on if you reached out to them, otherwise we could take a look as well if you provided login credentials in a secure note (it may take us a bit longer as our support times have been longer recently). Looking forward to seeing this resolved for you and making sure you have a good solution to translate your site.
