WPML Translation - Header/Footer

Hi there, I’m having an issue trying to translate a header/footer using the WPML plugin with Pro.

I’ve managed to translate the rest of the site fine, however I keep getting the error “Uh oh, Failed to create Header” when attempting to either copy or start blank.

I have changed the settings of WPML to allow headers/footers etc to be translatable - this was the solution I found on another forum but hasn’t worked for me. (see attached image)

Is there another setting i’m missing by chance?

Thank you for your time.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for reaching out.
Sometimes the only screenshot doesn’t help us to recognize the issue you are having. We need to examine your site to get the cause of the issue. Can you please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hi! Thanks for your reply, i’ve added login details to my original post, thank you.

Hey Josh,

Regretfully the given WP credentials is not working for us. Please double check it.

Thanks.

Hi! it should be working now, sorry about that.

Hey Josh,

I was able to logged in to the site. I am seeing this error in the console when doing the WPML translation:

ReferenceError: xhrRequest is not defined
    at Object.mutationFn (app.e711182.js:22:16132)
    at Object.fn (app.e711182.js:5:71151)

I have consulted our developers and it turns out that there are currently a few things we have to fix with WPML. Right now, you’ll have to do all creating from within WPML, but the linking between languages should work as expected. We are looking to fix and release it with 6.0.5.

Please bear with us.

Thank you for your help with that, i’ll keep an eye out for 6.0.5.

Could you please clarify what you mean by doing all the creating from within WPML?

Are you saying there’s an alternate way to translate the header/footer?

Thank you

Just wanted to confirm, 6.0.5 has been released now but I the issue is persisting. Can we expect a fix in 6.0.6?

Thank you!

We are nearly there with our WPML fixes. If not 6.0.6, definitely 6.0.7.
6.0.5 ended up being a hotfix so next real release is 6.0.6 to clarify.
By “Creating within WPML”, none of the creation aspect inside of Cornerstone were hooked up and you have to create translations all in WPML currently. However, since header and footer are custom post types I’m not sure you can, so you might need to wait till the next release for those types.

Hi @deranaloge,

Thanks for the appreciation.

I figured out somewhat of a workaround - if this helps, you can translate menu items by going into Appearance > Menu and there’s some WPML settings there. But for any other elements like buttons & text blocks etc looks like we’ll have to wait - hope that could be helpful for you!
