WPML only translates classic elements

Hi,

I’m a beginner in this but tried to follow instructions and checked before hand that WPML and Cornerstone are compatible.

Many things has worked smoothely but now I realize that only classic elements gets translated - do I need to remake all my pages to the “old” classic to get it to work?

Please help I have propably made some setting up errors but I cant find what.
Thanks!

Lotta

Hey Lotta,

You most probably are using WPML’s Translation Editor which only works with Classic Elements.

Pro and Cornerstone now uses the manual translation method so it’s recommended that you use the translation flags. If you open a page in Cornerstone, you’ll see the flag buttons in the lower right hand corner. You will need to use those flag buttons to translate your content.

You also need to set WPML > Settings > How to translate posts and pages to Create translations manually.

Thanks.

So I shouldn’t have bought WPML?

Hi @Lottafixelius,

Sorry for the confusion, WPML has many options and feature to choose, and not of the theme is WPML's Translation Editor (translation outside the builder) where you just translate the strings. But, it also has a manual translation feature which is the one recommended for the cornerstone. So please choose the option recommended by Christian, then edit your page in the builder and click the language flag.

if your page has no existing translation then this should appear

You can create the translation from blank and re-build the page, or copy it from the existing page (the current page) and just translate the content within the builder.

Thanks!
