WPML: Cornerstone and misconfigured URLs

Hi,

we are experiencing problems using the WPML plugin with Cornerstone.

We use two languages which run on two separate domains (.cz and .sk). The web works fine for the visitor, but since the switch to WPML we are not able to access Cornerstone in our secondary language (Slovak). Once we try to edit the translation we get error message - this means we are able to access only one language.

We read through the forum and it seems this is indeed a long-known issues. Do you have any update on the solution? What should we do in the meantime?

Thanks,

Nezzazvoni team

Hi @nezzazvoni,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have seen the issue mentioned in the screenshot and it shows the differences between the URLs which might be the cause of the issue. I would suggest you check the Settings > General > WordPress Address (URL) and the Settings > General > Site Address are the same, and also match with the Site URL and the Location or Staging URL mentioned in your Themeco Account.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Hi,

the setting in the WP is as follows:

The licence is set like this:

Is there a problem somewhere?

Thanks!

Hi @nezzazvoni,

It might be the problem with your .sk domain, can you please check the same for that. If the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address is https:://www.nezzazvoni.sk but you are still getting the same issue, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hi @tristup,

wow, I must say I didn’t know there was separate Setting for .sk and .cz domain (I thought there was just one WP), but we found it and it seems to work just fine! Thanks!

You’re most welcome.

Hello,

unfortunately the previous solution didn’t last for us, the Slovak version worked, the Czech didn’t (the same problem just the other way around).

I will try to sum up what we learned from this:

  1. The problem is caused by mismatched domain
  2. We can access both administrations on nezzazvoni.cz and nezzazvoni.sk individually
  3. We can change “Wordpress URL” in both administration in a way that matches the domain (cz+cz, sk+sk)
  4. We CAN’T change the “Site URL” individually, any change will overwrite site URL in both administration
  5. This means we can’t really match both "Wordpress URL " with “Site URL”, and the Cornerstone is still confused

Please see attached image and login credentials below.

Hi @nezzazvoni,

I tried to log in on your .cz website but the credentials are not working, please update it with the correct one.

Thank you.

Sorry, please find the new password below.

Hi @nezzazvoni,

Unfortunately, the .cz domain is redirecting to the .sk domain. That is why the .cz site is not accessible, can you please check if there is any redirect plugin or code is added to the .cz site. I would suggest you deactivate or remove that temporarily to give access to us for further investigation.

Thanks

Hi,

it seems like it was just wrong wp setting (which changed for no obvious reason as far as we can tell). Can you please check again?

Hey @nezzazvoni,

Please go to Settings > General > Site URL and simply change the TLD of your domain from .cz to .sk.

See the secure note below.

Once changed, hit the saved button and refresh the page, You may need to log in again to the site.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Hi there,

is there supposed to be any attachment? I can’t see any secure note.

Thanks.

Hey @nezzazvoni,

Sorry, the image were not uploaded.
Kindly check the secure note below.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I really appreciate your support, but we have already discussed this solution in this very thread 7d ago - we are not able to individually change the “site url”, because it is always linked - change on one domain will result in the change of the other as well.

The problem is caused by mismatched domain
We can access both administrations on nezzazvoni.cz and nezzazvoni.sk individually
We can change “Wordpress URL” in both administration in a way that matches the domain (cz+cz, sk+sk)
We CAN’T change the “Site URL” individually, any change will overwrite site URL in both administration
This means we can’t really match both "Wordpress URL " with “Site URL”, and the Cornerstone is still confused

What should we do? Thanks.

K.

Hi @nezzazvoni,

You could try this solution when changing your WordPress URL and Site URL.

Hope that helps.

Hi guys,

I am sorry, this may be miscommunication issue, but you suggested we should do something we really can’t do and this is the third time I am writing you about the same thing. As I have told you in previous post, the site URL automagically switches on both domains at the same time and we can’t do nothing about it.

Can you please change it the way it should be for us? We posted login credentials in this thread earlier.

Thank you.

Hey @nezzazvoni,

We’re sorry for all the confusion here. The new rendering system of Pro requests the frontend URL instead of using AJAX previously so you’ll get that misconfigured URL error. Regretfully, there is no solution in sight for this but to revert your site to a previous working state. Your web host might be able to help you with this.

If you wish to use the new version of Pro, you will have to rethink a way to lead your customer to the alternate language. For example, you can use ACF Pro to insert the URL of the other language and output the URL in the frontend via a button. We can provide further details if you want this route.
