WPML - Can't edit Chinese translated page

I have installed WPML and have page fully converted to Chinese.
I can’t see to edit the Chinese version of the page - I think the URLs in Console are 404 as Chinese charachters are breaking them…

It’s not a plugin, or update issue either…

Please logins and screenshots in private notes…

Hey @philiponeillfreelanc,

The URL setting for WPML should be set to different directories. I’ve set that now so I could test.

I’ve also set How to translate posts and pages to Create translations manually.

Your Chinese page can now be translated (see the secure note). I’ve translated 1 word for testing.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.
Can you advise where I find the settings that you posted in Secure Notes? I cannot find them.

So I need links for settings for:

  1. The URL setting for WPML should be set to different directories.
  2. How to translate posts and pages to Create translations manually.

Finally, why has the full page reverted back to English? It was in fully Chinese, now it’s English! after your edits…

Thanks,

Hi @philiponeillfreelanc,

  1. It should be in Admin > WPML > Languages > Language URL format.

  2. To create a translation of a post or page, just click the language Flag like in this screenshot

That feature will only work if the option Create translations manually is selected.

If you click that flag, it will give you more choices, if you’ll create the translated page as blank, or it will copy the content from existing page (the English page). Hence, you’ll see English on both pages until you translate the page. And I recommend translating it again as you previous translations are made outside the option Create translations manually.

Thanks!
