WPML and Pro Theme

Hello, I checked the WPML site and saw that it was compatible with xtheme and assumed it worked with the “Pro” version. It doesn’t seen to be picking up the pro builder elements to translate at all. Is there a WPML tutorial to get this to work for the “Pro” version of your theme?

Hi Bart,

This is how translation works with the theme builder and WPML.

  1. Create a page on default language using the builder.
2.) On the builder on the lower right part, you can see flags of available language. Click the flag of the second language and it will give you option top copy existing content of the page or start blank.
3.) Once translated page is loaded, edit/translate the element as needed.

See THEMECO TEST draft page as sample. Here’s a screencast on how I did it: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cq6nlOulvV

Hope this helps.

How does the Auto Translate Work? This is the feature we need most and then a translator to clean it up. It seems this way the user assigned to translate has to learn to edit the Pro builder? So basically all features of the WPML plugin for auto translate and the easy “box to box” translation page are not used? Is there no way to use that regular “Page translation” page for translators? How do you assign pages to translators now? Why is Pro theme completely breaking this plugin and how it was meant to work?

Also I tried your screencast on the homepage and the choose the japan flag for it and it takes me to a post to edit, not the homepage.

Hi @youngcompany,

I showed you the recommended way of translation but yes, Auto Translate/String Translation is also working. Using this process though, we recommend to use V2 elements. Developers are investigating an issue where classic element is not translating using this option.

Here are the steps:

1.) Create the page using Pro builder.
2.) Go to WPML >Translation Management.
a.) Select items/page for translation
b.) Select translation options :Choose translate
c.) Click Add Selected content to translation basket.
3.) Click Translation Basket tab > Choose Translator > Send All Items for Translation
4.) It can now be access by the translator on WPML > Translations. On each page available for translation > there’s a button Translate or Take and translate. Click the button to start translation.

This might be because there’s already an existing string translation already for homepage.

Hope this helps.

How do I fix it to make the homepage work like your screencast?

Hi There,

The usual method is to delete the existing translatation page.

On the top bar of your Admin Dashboard, you have a LANGUAGE SELECTOR.

To remove the translated page, you must switch the language in the top bar and select the page you want to remove, just as you delete a normal page. Note that you have to “empty the trash,” after you remove a page.

Although, my alternative for you is, open the current home page using CONTENT BUILDER on its default language. Save this page as template. Create a new page. Then load this homepage template. Follow the screencast on how I translate a new page. This way your homepage is still intact while you are translating a new one. Once you’re done with translation, go to admin > Settings and then set this new page as your new HOMEPAGE.

Hope this helps.
