WpBakery wont allow any frontend edits

I have the latest updates of all plugins/Wordpress.

I imported the Agency demo and then tried to edit in WpBakery. I intitially had both Cornerstone and WpBakery installed.
At first, I saw all of the content of the demo but when I clicked on something to edit it, it prompted me to Add Element. The added element was then added to the bottom of the page and the demo content remained the same. When in the backend editor, it only shows Revolution Slider (which I do have installed)
I tried disabling Cornerstone to see if the dual plugins was the issue. I never used Cornerstone. After disabling, my pages in WpBakery editing displayed as straight code in the front end editor. The backend editor only shows Revolution Slider.
I then deleted everything and cleared my cache. I made sure Cornerstone was completely uninstalled, even after clearing cache again. I reinstalled Agency demo and the Cornerstone plugin was reinstalled and active.

In short: WpBakery wont let me edit content and doesn’t work at all when Cornerstone isn’t installed. Cornerstone forces itself to be installed when I installed Agency demo.

So, does Agency not understand the content builder WpBakery? If it is supposed to work, where is it going wrong?
Let me know if you need additional information.

More information:

Disabling X Integration in WPBakery settings allows me to edit the demo content but it is straight code, which defeats the purpose of having a frontend editor.

I’m beginning the believe that WPBakery is not compatible with X at all, which is disheartening since I paid real money for this theme.

Hello @meghanegg,

Thanks for asking.

Visual Composer is fully compatible with X Theme, even when Cornerstone is installed and activated. Actually Cornerstone is essential plugin to run X Theme as all the shortcodes are built into the Cornerstone. However, you can use Visual Composer alongside Cornerstone and design the page layout as per your requirement.

Please note that all of our demo contents like Integrity, Renew, Church, Agency, Spa are editable only with Cornerstone as the demo content pages are build using Cornerstone. They are not backward compatible with Visual Composer. A page designed using Visual Composer is not editable with Cornerstone and vice versa. You though have the option to design one page in Cornerstone and other in Visual Composer.

Thanks.
