WPBakery Visual Composer glitches on X Theme updates

Hello. I urge for some help on this issue please. I am unable to update The X Theme OR Visual Composer without having Visual Composer by WPBakery not work. We have had to revert back to old backups every time we try any sort of update, hoping that the Visual Composer compatibility with X Theme would finally be a reality, but yet it still is a problem.

What happens is the WPBakery page builder does not implement anything more than one single row element for an entire page of various widths of content, and is full of code and images such as someone were editing in “Classic Mode.” I am able to make very basic website updates when this is the case but I have also found that saving while under this state will potentially eliminate line breaks within a page, therefore I refuse to do so.

This has been a problem that has been tolerated simply by not updating for at least 4 or 5 months as we needed to update our content due to immediate obligations to our clients, but this cannot go on. I am happy to share login credentials privately and to cooperate on all levels to make this finally work. Please feel free to disengage any plugins that may be causing the problem.

Lastly, since we just turned over our new annual publication at the start of this year, and tended to all immediate content updates, we are finally somewhat at a lull. And in trying to update the theme and WPBakery, the problem is apparent when you log in. See below.

Thank you for your help in this matter,

Hi @threedogink,

Thanks for reaching out.

Once you have updated visual composer, please make sure you have to toggle on the X legacy integration (make sure not to edit and save anything if the integration is still inactive, else visual composer will automatically wrap them with text shortcodes).

But if you happen to accidentally saved the content before enabling the integration, then please follow the video provided by Christian here https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/visual-composer-broke-my-websites-after-update/46899/5. But I recommend restoring back your entire site to where it’s not really updated, I see that you roll it back but the cornerstone remains updated. Restoring the entire site should restore it back the files and database (which is the most important one).

Thanks!

I tried your solution but it is not working for me especially on portfolio listing and single portfolio pages.
I have to make my site unavailable. Please help. hfarazm.com

Hello @hfarazm,

Thanks for updating this thread.

Please provide us the url of your portfolio listing and single portfolio pages so that we can investigate your issue. If you do not want to share it in public, I would recommend that you create a separate thread and add your link url or login details in a secure note. The secure note is necessary to make sure that only you and our staff stuff can see your login details since you are the owner of the thread.

Regards.

Thank you. All looks back to normal! Such an easy solution. Though I think I may have updated a page before enabling Integration (not sure), everything still looks fine. So glad! thanks!

Glad it works for you
