WP Job Openings - Application form does not display when a Layout is applied

Hello Support Team. Happy Wednesday,

We are using the WP Job Openings plugin for our job posts, but have come across an issue where the application form that’s part of every job posting does not display when a Post Layout is applied to it. However, on the Cornerstone preview it displays, but not on the live page preview.

Summary

Here’s a link from our dev area: https://revpowersolutions.com/jobs/electrical-switchgear-assembler-expression-of-interest/

We’ve reached out to the plugin support and they pointed to Pro theme as the cause of the issue.

Thank you in advance for the assistance,

FBC

Hello @FullBlast,

Thanks for writing to us.

Regretfully, the issue is coming from the third-party plugin for which we don’t have any compatibility with the theme. We’d still be happy to explore whether there are any adjustments or improvements possible within Cornerstone. Please do keep in mind though, since this is a third-party plugin, we aren’t able to guarantee a resolution. To investigate it further, please copy your live site to a staging server so we can troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access in the secure note, including:

  • WordPress Site URL & Login URL
  • WordPress Admin username/password

Thanks for understanding

Hey @prakash_s

Thank you for assisting us on this. The site is in a development area so please feel free to explore. We also do have periodic backup from our web host.

Hello @FullBlast,

Do you have a staging site? I also noticed that you are using the Pro 6.6.9 version. We highly recommend that you update to the latest version Pro 6.7.2. We urge you to have all these update in the staging site first. We can continue troubleshooting the issue in the staging site then. Please provide access to the staging site so we can continue to troubleshoot this issue using the latest version.

Best Regards.

Hi @ruenel,

For sure please see below secure note for the staging site and login.

We appreciate your help on this,
FBC

Hey @FullBlast,

After my investigation, it seems that this a conflict between the Cornerstone’s The Content prefab and how the Jon Form is injected to the content. I am reporting this to our developers for further investigation.

Please bear with us.

Hey @ruenel, Happy Friday.

Thank you for looking into this. Please let us know if there have been any updates. We hope to launch the site for end of next week, and would appreciate it if we could resolve this issue by then.

All the best,
FBC

Hello @FullBlast,

We have already reported it to our development team. There is no ETA at the moment, so I would request you, please stay tuned for the succeeding updates.

Thanks for understanding

Hi @prakash_s, Happy Friday.

Our team is just wondering if we have any next steps to get the application form working inside the Cornerstone Layout. Please let us know if there’s anything to move forward on.

Thank you and all the best,
FBC

Hello @FullBlast,

The issue is already forwarded to our developers. They are already made aware and we will just wait for their response time to address the issue. I will also personally bump our issue tracker and ask them to chime in on this thread. Rest assured we are looking into this issue.

At the moment, I can only recommend that you use the built-in template of the WP Job Openings plugin while we await to resolve the compatibility with the Cornerstone builder.

Please bear with us.

I’m not able to recreate the issue on my own site. Did WP Job Openings send you any info on the issue?

Thanks for the update @charlie.

Unfortunately, we still can’t get the form to display. The Pro theme and plugin are both up to date, we’ve also tried testing for plugin conflict but still no luck.

This is the last email we received from the plugin support:

Hi,

Thank you for your patience while our technical team investigated the issue.

After conducting thorough testing, we’ve confirmed that the problem is not caused by our plugin. Instead, it appears to stem from the theme currently active on your site. When we switched to a default theme during testing, the application form displayed correctly without any issues.

To resolve this, we kindly suggest reaching out to the theme’s support team or your development team, as they’ll be best equipped to address the conflict.

Thanks again for your cooperation, and feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Vidya K V

These were the things we tried to get the form to show:

  • switched the theme out to a default WP theme
  • unhooked the Layout from the Job Openings post type. This is not ideal since we need the sidebar and other Layout sections to meet client requirements

Thank you for the assistance,
FBC

You are going to need to remove or hide the taxonomy loopers you have setup. When those are in place the plugin will stop working due to their form output checking is_main_query. Their is probably other loopers that affect this on your page too. If I were them I would probably remove that or find a different way to output forms. If you sign up for One Total Care we can write a code workaround for you too. I hope this helps.

Hi @charlie, Happy Wednesday.

This is a huge discovery - thank you troubleshooting this issue. I did test removing the loopers, and the application forms were displaying again.

Thank you for working with us to get this issue resolved :handshake:

All the best,
FBC
