WP Install Page Issue with XTheme

Hi Theme.co,

Have a web development company, and we have created a bunch of sites that use X Theme. Having a serious issue sometimes: all X Theme sites hosted on our server suddenly take users to the wp-install.php page.

All other WP sites that do NOT use X Theme on this VPS seem to work fine.

I just had the server tech restore an older database for the entire server, and everything seems to function again properly, but we lost days of work in the process.

Have you encountered this issue before? If so, what is the solution?

Thanks,
Erik

Hello Erik,

Thanks for asking. The problem you faced is quite strange. I haven’t came across a similar issue. To see if customers faced similar problem, I did a forum, Google search and don’t see any existing tickets. In that regards it’s quite difficult for me to suggest you solution. That being said, looking at WordPress architecture I don’t think it’s a theme related issue in that regards I would suggest you to get in touch with hosting company to find out the root cause of the problem. Reason being they are in a much better position as they have access to the analytics and other debugging tools to find out the problem. Also I would suggest you to take a relook at the .htaccess entries. To learn more about htaccess, here is a good resource https://codex.wordpress.org/htaccess

Thanks.

Hi Prasant,

Thanks for your reply. We figured out the issue, and this may be something to address/post by Theme.co on an official level…because other folks may experience the same issue in the future.

It seems that X Theme requires a recent InnoDB engine. Once the server software was updated by the server tech, all the X Theme sites on the server started working again.

Here is the message from my lead coder when analyzing the issue:

The issue I am seeing with the server is as follows:

When accessing any MySQL tables that use the InnoDB engine, the system returns an error: #1286 - Unknown storage engine ‘InnoDB’. This is what may be causing the redirect to the install pages for Wordpress sites, as Wordpress by default uses this engine.

You can view this the database: ‘seventhp_7p2016’. No table can be accessed. All these tables were formally Innodb tables.

NONE of the other WP sites on this server had the issue, just X Theme sites.

Thanks,
Erik

Hi there,

X theme has no access to the database, but Wordpress has. The theme is just like a skin of your site, all the options uses the function provided by Wordpress which makes the theme indirectly connected to database.

Database connection, selection, queries, and other stuff are done by Wordpress itself. That’s why all database configurations are only available within’s Wordpress’s wp-config.php file. Maybe the issue is the current configuration from your site’s wp-config.php and it doesn’t match your current database.

Thanks!
