Updating to the latest version of the theme and cornerstone seems to have deactivated WP Bakery on some of the sites that we built with WP Bakery (some of our early sites as we only build with Pro now). The update automatically deactivated wp bakery showing the shorcodes on the front end. We rolled back but when we did, the option to activate the plugin no longer appeared on the plugin page. It had to be activated from X>Validate. It’s working on sites for which we did this, but when we updated the theme and cornerstone again the same thing happens again. The STRANGEST thing is that on one of the sites, when I deleted the plugin altogether and installed and activated it from X>Validate, it is installed a completely different plugin called Ultimate Addons for WPBakery Page Builder from Brainstorm Force. Very perplexing. I did this twice just to make sure. I am downloading the package from Themeforest now to see if I can manually upload the plugin and will report back on what happens, but I wanted to report this in case others are having trouble with WP Bakery updates. This has happened on 3 sites but we have more that are using WP Bakery so it is not across the board, which makes it all the more unusual.
Manually deleting and reinstalling the latest approved version of WP Bakery from the full package from Themeforest has resolved this issue. That’s ok for this particular site but kind of a pain so I wanted to pass this along in case others are having the same issue.
so I had the same issue but after replacing the plugin, nothing changes. the plugin requires an update which repeats the issue. So instead of updating the plugin, I ignore that but nothing has changed on the front end. What steps am I missing?

Yes, you can now update your website without breaking anything but before doing anything I suggest that you take a backup of your website.
