Wordpress site getting 504 error. admin not loading correctly site is slow

Hello

Because my web site became slow and the wordpress admin almost unusable
often giving me 504 gateway errors, I contacted my provider siteground.
after trying out on their end to solve the problem, they finally tried to change the wordpress theme and
found out the problem was solved.
They replied this to me:

“I investigated the case in details and the plugins are not causing the issue, as when they were disabled the same issue was occurring. So I changed the theme of your website temporary with the default twentyfifteen theme and there were no errors displayed. I would recommend you to contact the theme developers or your website developer as they can investigate and fix the root of the problem.”

The provided also sent this message

"Your account irdi.ch has reached 80% of the allowed daily usage of 10000 CPU seconds per account. Please note that once you hit 100% of the allowed daily CPU seconds, your web service will be limited for the calendar day. The web service limit means you might be having problems accessing your website. "

It seems very strange as my web site is not even live and getting no traffic. It is probably because i am trying hard to load the pages.

They are concluding there is a problem with the theme. What could it be?

What do you think may have happened? The web site was working fine until recently
My website is www.irdi.ch

Hi there,

There are thousands of people using our theme with no problem regarding the limitation the hosting service provider support staff mentioning and we do have many customers that use the Siteground.

The problem must be related to the usage of the theme, for some reason something went wrong and there is an infinite loop of some kind.

Please kindly contact your hosting service provider and ask them to give you detailed information on which process is taking up their CPU. That way you can get a better grasp of what element is causing the issue.

As a test try to access the pages one by one and see which page is causing the issue. Then look into that page using Cornerstone and see if you can find a script or custom code added which makes this issue.

Thank you.

This is what Siteground replied to me

"Thank you for the reply.

I would like to clarify before we proceed that we do not specialise in coding related issues with a particular software, theme or a plugin or with website/database optimisation and fine tuning. We try our best to assist our customers as much as possible, as we understand the complications of hiring a developer. Unfortunately, there are issues which do fall beyond our scope of support and sometimes there isn’t any other option, but to contact a professional developer. You can check the following article for more information:

I have thoroughly tested the application, however, I am afraid that it is not evident which component of the site is causing the issue. The only thing I noticed is that when the theme is changed to a default twentyseventeen, there are no problems with the application and no 504 errors."

Now what can I do now?

There would also be no point in trying to test each page as not a single one of them is loading normally.

I see. In this case, could you at least give us an estimate how long you build a page in Cornerstone? I mean, are you always adding and replacing elements?

What other parts of your site your working on the most (including third party plugins)?

If you’re using a child theme, please switch to the parent theme then check again in incognito mode.

Thanks.
