WordPress "Edit In Cornerstone" overlay not appearing

Hi,

Just wondering if you’re aware of the WordPress page edit screen showing the Cornerstone shortcodes. Usually the “Edit in Cornerstone” overlay appears automatically. It’s not doing it and briefly appears when the “Edit in Cornerstone” button is pressed before it then launches Cornerstone. It would be good to have this fixed so it appears automatically, to avoid anyone messing with those shortcodes. Thanks

Hello @boomfly,

Thanks for writing in! This normally happens when you have edited the post or page outside of the builder. Also, you may have disable editing of the post or page in Cornerstone > Settings > Permissions > Page (or Post).

If this is not the case for you, we may need to check your site for further investigation. You can create a secure note in your next reply with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WP login URL
– WP username
– WP password
– WP Administrator Role
– Confirmation that we can access and make changes to your site

To know how to create a secure note, please check this out: How The Forum Works

Best Regards.

Yep, checked that and the permissions are granted on the role. I’ve created you a login on a clean install so you can take a look.

Hi @boomfly,

I have checked your website and found that the Edit with Cornerstone option is coming in the Page List.

If you are still facing the problem, please provide any screen casting video that helps us to recognize the problem.

Thanks

Hi @tristup,

Thanks for checking but that isn’t what I’m asking about. When the page is edited using the Wordpress editor there is usually an overlay that hides the Cornerstone shortcodes. It looks like this:

But that isn’t showing automatically, it just shows the shortcodes like in my first post. It used to be there automatically to prevent anyone messing with the shortcodes and now it’s not.

Hi @boomfly,

That will come once you click on the Edit with Cornerstone button at the Top Right corner of the screen.

Thanks

Yes you’re right it does, but it used to appear automatically covering up the shortcode area so nobody can mess with it.

Hi @boomfly,

It happens if you have activated the Classic Editor instead of Block Editor.

Thanks

Hi @tristup,

I see, that’s great! Is there any scope for this to appear in the same way when using the Block Editor? I’ve read that the Classic Editor plugin may stop being supported after 2024.

Thanks

Hi @boomfly,

There is no plan for that right now. Still, I will check with our development team on this.

Thanks
