Wordpress Blocks, the Layout Builder, and Grabbing Specific Blocks

Hi there,

For a lot of reasons, I’m trying to keep my feature layouts fresher and more customized for specific topics compared to film reviews or opinion pieces on my website. This is creating a problem that I used to work around before.

Before the Layout Builder, I’d have repeating field groups in ACF to counter the problem of not being able to neatly format my work the way I want, but of late, with the ease of the layout builder, I’ve begun to focus more on the content.

The problem is this current feature I’m trying to format for, which includes specific heading texts, proper breaks in texts for either images or other headings, and for me to make a page that’s specific to the feature itself. Ordinarily, I’d be satisfied with “The Content” being the be-all-end-all of the layout, but here, I’m wondering if I can grab content only from specific blocks (in the wordpress editor) so I can tailor my layout specifically? I don’t have a problem with design, just how to connect the dots here. Is there a way to identify said block as a field type that I can specify when accessing from the dynamic content list?

(Also, has the nextpage thing been fixed, pls)

Thanks
Ankit

Hello Ankit,

Thanks for writing in! Regretfully we do not have an element or a way to identify any of the blocks that have been added to the page when using the WP Editor. When you use Cornerstone to edit a page or post, any content will be discarded and overwritten. In terms of the custom Single layout or Archive layout, there is no such element that can pick out any element on a post or page content selectively.

As for the Next page element, this is still not supported by the builder.

Best Regards.
