Wordpress 6.01 Update / X theme 9.1.4

We have been successfully using CF7 as a forms plugin with X for a number of years, however the recent update from WordPress v6 to 6.01 has stopped this plugin from working with X.

We have gone through our usual troubleshooting procedure and find that the issue is with X. CF7 works fine when using a default theme.

Your help asap would be most welcome.

Hey @Guru,

Thanks for reaching out!

Would you mind sharing more information of your problem with Contact form 7 using the latest version of WordPress and X theme? In that way, we can properly help you with your issue.

Thank you.

The forms won’t send. The following error occurs ‘There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.’

All mails are sent through WP Mail SMTP and all other tests show that it is working correctly. We have implemented a quick fix by installing WPForms, which works, however we need to get CF7 working as we have configured 30 different types of contact forms using the CF7 plugin.

Hey @Guru,

CF7 5.6.1 works in my site using X 9.1.4 and Cornerstone 6.1.4.

I see you’re using a child theme, it’s not clear if you tested X (parent) or X (child theme).

  • If the issue happens with X (child theme), please check your customizations.
  • If the issue happens with X (parent), please post your error log or debug log in the secure note as that will lead us to the cause. It would also be helpful if you copy your live site to a staging server so we can investigate freely without disrupting your live site.

Only if the issue happens with X (parent), provide the following access credentials in a Secure Note

  • Staging WordPress Login URL
  • Staging Admin username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts.

.

Thanks.

On inspection the issue seems to be on the production site using the child theme. The problem seems to stem from the reCaptcha.

It appears as though the reCaptcha script may not be loading on the production site …

The staging site uses the identical child theme but does not experience any of the same CF7 issues. Can you help? I could give you access to the staging site however it is an identical version of the production site.

Hey @Guru,

Regretfully, no. We do not provide support for custom code issues. We might be able to provide guidance in our One premium support where we answer general WordPress questions. Just note that there’s no guarantee we can fix even if you sign up to One as at this point, we don’t know if the cause is complex.

Thank you for understanding.
