We are using the Renew Stack (not sure if that matters) and have activated WooCommerce.
For shipping, we will probably use USPS only. During checkout, we would like the customer to be able to see the shipping costs based on their address/postal or zipcode.
There is an API for $79 from WooCommerce, but wanted to know if we can simply use the API from USPS or do we need to use the purchased version from WooCommerce.
Any suggestions are welcome.

It is not required to purchase it but it is handy to use it directly. In case of of USPS API update, you don’t need to worry because the developer of the plugin will update it for you and you just need to update the plugin on your installation. On the other hand, there is an option to use USPS API directly free of charge as stated on their site. Please check USPS Web Tools API portal for documentation. You might need to register first. Please note that the development of integration to USPS is outside the scope of our support. Thank you for understanding.
