WooCommerce Support is outdated for X Pro Child Theme

When we updated our site to the latest version of WooCommerce it gave a notice that the child theme was no longer compatible and it triggers a lot of warnings. Is there any plan on updating the child theme to meet the needs for the latest version of WooCommerce or is that something we are expected to have to update with the changes?

Hi @klevur,

Thank you for writing in, outdated theme files are a warning, not an error. Often it won’t affect your site. If the template file in question is in the parent theme (WooCommerce > Status page will tell you), you’re better off waiting for a theme update and downgrade your Woocommerce to the latest compatible version.

How to Downgrade WooCommerce Plugin?

If it’s your child theme (you made your own Woocommerce template modification), then simply download the new version of Woocommerce, open the templates directory and find the same file. Apply your customization to the new file, and save it into your child theme.

Fixing Outdated WooCommerce Templates

Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

It is the child theme but we did not make any customization to it. When using the latest version of WooCommerce it notes that there are things outdated in the child theme.

So if I understand there are no plans to update the child theme so that those errors or warnings don’t persist?

Hey @klevur,

I understand that you said you didn’t make any customization to your child theme but it is impossible for the child theme to have outdated WooCommerce templates because it does not include one.

It’s possible that someone on your end added WooCommerce templates to your child theme. Please ask your team members.

If you do have WooCommerce templates in your child theme, either delete the woocommerce folder in your child theme if you don’t need the custom templates or have a developer update the templates. Please note that maintaining custom codes is not a part of theme support.
