WooCommerce store to an existing site

Hi! many WooCommerce questions from a beginner who is going to add a onlinestore to an existing site built with cornerstone.

  1. I understand that Cornerstone is a page builder and therefore you cant customize product category pages. But then what is included in the four demo shops that xtheme offers?

  2. Can a build the new site with a edited primary menu as a child theme and then active it when Im ready to go live with it to decrease time for the shop development?

  3. Why hasnt my WP created pages for product categorys?

  4. Can I create a product page with cornerstone and save it as a template and then use it for all my product pages? How can I do that?

  5. Product category pages…what shall I do if I want to front end build them?

  6. If I use product category page template where do I upload them?

  7. how do I recognize a product category template format?

Hi @fveermets,

Thank you for writing in, 1) Full WooCommerce Integration + 4 Unique Shop Designs you can see that here. It’s more on store page design and feels, not on content.

  1. You can clone your entire site on a staging server, and work on your shop pages on the staging, after you complete the shop store on staging, you then need to migrate that to your live site. That way you only have little to no downtime on your site (only on migration process)

How to Clone a WordPress Site in 7 Easy Steps

  1. You can view product category pages, under Products > Categories then click view.
  1. No, you cant. You can open the Product on a Cornerstone/Content Builder, but it will only allow you to edit the Description part, not the entire.

5.) Not possible yet, if you want to edit the category page you need to create a custom template for category pages.

  1. It should be uploaded in the child theme’s woocommerce folder.

How to Create Category Templates in WordPress

  1. If there is an /produkt-kategori/ in the URL, then that is an (archive) category page

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

  1. What have been added here to reach the unique designs? Coding, Custom templates? Woocommerce short codes?

  2. Ok thank you!

  3. I cant change my product permalinks to shop base with category. When I choose this and press save settings it just turns back to custom base.

If I make this change will I get separate pages for each product category?

  1. Ok!

  2. Ok!

  3. Ok,

  4. Ok

  5. I want to customize all text and buttons to see less wordpress-ish what is the easiest way to make these changes and for woocoommerce related pages only?

  6. From a local store I have exported products from another system to an excel file.
Now I would like to convert that file to .CSV to import it to woocommerce.
But is there any sample to see how the imported file shall be structured?
I want to do this to save time to copy paste thousand products manually.

Hi @fveermets,

There is no need to customize anything. To have the shop page, you just need to create a page then go to the Woocommerce setting and set that page as the shop page.

The display of the product page depends on the stack you have selected for your site.

Perhaps there is a plugin conflict on the site so you might want to try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Also, please note that it would be best to get in touch directly to Woocommerce for features not working since it is still a third party plugin which we cannot provide support for.

Here is a translation guide from Woocommerce:

Please note that these are Woocomerce specific questions and it’s more about setting up your store. Woocommerce is one of the approved plugins with X where we can provide the updates (templates and fix from Woocommerce) and test for its compatibility with X.

It would be best to check the Woocommerce documentation for queries like this since this is something that goes beyond the scope of support we can offer.
