WooCommerce Single Product Page variation thumbs should select corresponding variation

On the WooCommerce Single Product page-

There is the main product image as well as small thumbnails for product color variations. When one of the product color variation thumbs is clicked, the product image changes to show the selected color- however, the dropdown menu for ‘Color’ does not change.

This is problematic because a customer will naturally assume that the product color being displayed will be added to the cart when ‘Add to Cart’ is clicked.

But that’s not the case. The menu selection for ‘Color’ does not change with the changed main product color image.

So, the color variation thumbs under the main product image should, when clicked, both A) show the product color selected (which it is doing), as well as B) set the ‘Color’ menu to the corresponding color.

It does work in reverse. When the ‘Color’ menu item is changed, the corresponding product color is displayed.

This should work both ways.

The feature you are looking for is related to Woocommerece and there is nothing to do with the theme.
Unfortunately, that feature is not available in Woocommerce by default. You need custom development or any third party solution for that.

Yeah, changed the theme to Storefront and got same results. Oh well.
I remedied the situation by removing the default size and color choices so they have to pick one before they can add to cart.
