WooCommerce Plugin Not Working

Hi

After doing updates last Saturday, I noticed that the Woocommerce plugin was not working. I have been working on an online shop (catalogue) for jdmusicltd.co.uk.

The data is still in the database but when i try to active the plugin, it comes up with an error message saying that the folder already exists.

Spoke to the hosting company who said about going into the files via FTP but not too sure what action to take.

Basically I want the plugin to work and the shop data back so I don’t have to do it again. Can you advise?

Kind Regards

Eddie

Hey Eddie,

Firstly, please note that WooCommerce is only an approved plugin. We are not the developers of it and we do not handle support for it.

Now that that is clear, I’m going to say what might cause and fix it but just this time. If my suggestion doesn’t work, please contact WooCommerce support or hire a developer to fix the issue for you.

Regarding the issue, you’re most probably using a plugin or your web host has a script that alters how plugins are updated in WordPress. The system may be duplicating the plugin instead of overwriting it. You need to know what is causing this because even if you solve the issue, it will reoccur over and over again.

This potential solution might sound foreign to you so if you don’t understand this, ask your web host if they can do this for you or hire someone who can. With that said, try logging in to your server via FTP or cPanel and open the folder where you installed WordPress then go to this directory wp-content/plugins. If you see 2 woocommerce folders in there, delete the other one.

Hope that helps and thank you for understanding.
