WooCommerce Layout Builder Templates Incorrectly Getting Applied to Cart and Checkout Pages

Hello,

We have configured two layout templates for our WooCommerce products. The first serves standard/simple products, and the second serves variable products. Within the last few days our website began applying the standard/simple product layout template to the Cart and Checkout pages. This occurred without explanation and without updates to any of our plugins…

The layout gets applied the moment the page is saved with the [woocommerce_cart] shortcode present. Alternatively, the moment the page gets officially assigned as the cart - even without the shortcode - in WooCommerce settings, the layout gets applied. This effectively renders the store unusable, as there is no way to view the cart (though the modal mini cart does still work) and no way to checkout.

I’ve attached three screenshots:

  • Screenshot 1: How the page should appear.
  • Screenshot 2: A view from the Page Builder the moment we enter [woocommerce_cart] but BEFORE pressing save.
  • Screenshot 3: A view of the Page Builder the moment AFTER pressing save. You’ll see the product layout template has taken over, eliminated any info about the cart, and thrown an error message in the upper right corner. Note that although the error message mentions a third-party plugin conflict, we removed all plugins to test and the behavior still persists.

In addition to deactivating all plugins, we also updated to Pro v5+ but that had no improvement. We’ve also verified the conditional logic rules aren’t inadvertently setting the layout to appear on Cart and Checkout pages.

We’re at a loss here… ideas?

Thanks!

Hello @RyanDLC,

You are having the issue because you have not yet assigned the cart and checkout page in your WooCommerce settings. Please go to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced tab and set the pages.

Best Regards.

Hello,

Thank you for the prompt reply. Unfortunately, as briefly mentioned, this does not have an impact on the issue. The below screenshots confirm that even when the page is set via WooCommerce’s settings, the incorrect layout gets applied:

This happens if the cart and checkout pages are:

  1. Set in WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced; or
  2. Are only set with a shortcode; or
  3. Both set in WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced and set via a shortcode.

Thank you in advance for the assistance.

Hello,

Just wanted to follow up here. Unfortunately, if there is no solution, I will need to request a refund on our recent Unlimited Use License, as Pro unfortunately will not work with our future e-commerce projects.

Would love to get this resolved so we can keep utilizing Pro!

Hi @RyanDLC,

I apologize for the delay, I’ve checked your site. Your Single Product layout had an extra assignment rule that was causing it to be assigned to all WooCommerce layouts. This made it overwrite the checkout and cart. I’ve corrected this on your site and the cart is working again. I’ve also updated it to the latest version of Pro which was released today.
