WooCommerce / Custom Taxonomies / Page Assignment issues

I have a WooCommerce shop.

The products have various custom taxonomies.

I have have a shop archive in the layout builder assigned to the shop and each of the taxonomies.

If the taxonomy contains products then everything works as expected.

If the taxonomy doesn’t have any products assigned to it then the layout doesn’t work and the site shows the default WooCommerce template.

It should show the taxonomy from the layout builder design as i am purposefully building elements for when there are no products in the taxonomy.

Is this a bug?

Hello @urchindesign,

Thanks for writing to us.

In order to help you with your concern, we need to check your settings. I would request you, please share your details in a secure note. Please provide the following details meanwhile you must troubleshoot a few common issues before we investigate your settings.

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin level username and password
  • Exact Layout URL

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts

Thanks

I have already done all the relevant troubleshooting. i.e. disabled all the plugins, switched to the parent theme etc. I also have the same issue on my local Ubuntu development server where all the resources are allocated to the site. i.e. there are no memory shortages and the like as the PHP settings are set to pretty high values.

If you go to the Pro Layouts builder the layout with the issues is called “Shop Display” and is a WC Archive layout.

I’ve added a login ???

Hi @urchindesign,

If there is no product in the specific taxonomy it will be shown in the WooCommerce default template, even if any Layout is assigned through the Layout Builder.

Although it’s the default behavior, still, I will add this as a new feature request so our development team will take it into the consideration in future.

Thanks

Thanks. That seems more like either a bug or an over sight…

if you are using the layout building you why would you want the default woo template to be used in certain instances.

Hi @urchindesign,

It’s the default case that the Layout can’t be assigned to the empty taxonomies. And as I have told you, I have already added this to a feature request.

Thanks
