Woocomerce set to display categories on shop page but all products are showing

Hi,

I have Appearance > Customize > Woocommerce > Product Catalog > Shop Page Display set to Categories

The shop page shows all top level category but also displays all products at the bottom of the page and for a subsequent 189 pages.

Any help you can offer i greatly appreciated.

It seems normal to me when I check.

As ou can see in the attached image i have tested this on 5 different browsers on my mac and all 5 have the same issue.

The client has the same issue on her PC on Chrome and Edge

Hey Brent,

I see that issue in your site. The Product Category pages should be showing the sub-categories only but they’re showing the product instead.

I tried to replicate this in my test sites and this does not happen though so there could be something else overriding the WooCommerce setting in your site. Our themes do not have such an option or feature so it could come from a third-party plugin.

Please try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Also, try switching to the parent theme and also try the default WordPress theme then record each test result. Post the results in your next reply.

If the issue persists after all those tests, please copy your live site to a staging server so that we could investigate further without the risk of breaking your live site.

Thanks for the reply.

I have deactivated all plugin except for Woocommerce and switched to the 2019 theme and the issue persists.

Any help you can offer would be great.

Here’s the setting that we are looking for,


Please navigate to Products > Categories edit the Category that has the issue (i.e. Shop by Aisle), then set the Display type option to Subcategories and save.
