hi there,
can i - somehow - translate a global block with wpml?
since i use it on many pages and it is a complex block it would save a lot! of work
i have two websites one with pro 3.x and one with 4.x.
i gather from the topics in the forum, that i should stay with pro version 3 for a while when using wpml. is that correct?
thanks a lot and best wishes, kai
Hi Kai,
It seems that Global Block may not be set as translatable through the WPML settings. If that is not the case please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to investigate the settings further, including:
β WordPress Site URL & Login URL
β WordPress Admin username/password
To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.
Thanks
dear Tristup,
you mean that it is possible to translate global blocks with wpml?
is that in pro v3 or pro v4?
which version works best with wpml?
thanks again! best wishes, kai
this is what i found out by now:
prov3 seems not to be able to translate blocks. at least i did not find out how.
prov4 can translate global blocks. but i get an error message after clicking on the other language flag at the botton that the translated block could not be created. so another error here.
could you also please explain to me the options in this screenshot please. what are die exact diffrences of the 3 options (blank, copy and edit existing)? this is pro v4.
is there a new updated manual for v4 in regard to wpml? if so please give me a link to the documentation. thanks a lot! kai
Hi Kai,
It seems the Global Block does not have the English translation, you need to click the Copy to copy the existing translation or click Start Blank if you want to start it from scratch.
Thanks
hi prakash,
thanks for your reply. but i did this and get an error message that the block could not be created. i wrote above:

this happends when i click on one of the language flags at the end of the page(builders) page. as described above.
so how can i then copy the block?
i read a lot in the forums and it seems that the blocks can be translated but they wonβt show up automatically when switching to the other langage pages.
the solution mentioned is to manually make a second global block and then replace the original one with the new (other language) block. so no automatic language switching for global blocks. or has this changed/fixed by now?
and is it possible to get a faster support as it used to be? waiting for 2 days is far too long. a few month ago i got replies within hours and then decided to become a lifelong member. since then i wait at least a whole day for a reply.
hoping for your fast answers. thanks a lot and best wishes, kai
