Widgets page in admin section is completely blank

Hello, I just noticed that the widgets page in the admin section is completely blank, which leaves me no way to make any changes to them. Any ideas why this is happening? I haven’t added any plugins or made any theme changes, other than updates, in a very long time.

Hey @dmick89,

Can you give us a screenshot of the issue? Also, did you switch to other theme in the past? Try checking if your widgets are in the Inactive Widget section in Appearance > Widgets

It’s quite literally a blank page. I haven’t switched themes or anything in a year or two and the widgets have worked since then.

Hi @dmick89,

In that case, would you mind providing your admin login credentials in a secure note? I’d like to see it first.

And if possible your FTP login credentials as well, maybe that blank area is due to internal server error.

Hello There,

Thank you for providing the information. I have investigated the issue and it turns out that “CKEditor for WordPress” plugin is causing the issue. When this plugin is active, the widgets will not display. This plugin generates a fatal error in the widget section when active. At the moment, I have deactivated it. You can check out and activate/deactivate the plugin if you want to double check. You might need to find an alternative for this plugin.

I’m now getting an error on the site:

Notice: wpcf7_add_shortcode is deprecated since Contact Form 7 version 4.6! Use wpcf7_add_form_tag instead. in /srv/www/users0/d/c/dc81584d/public/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/includes/functions.php on line 365

Also get an error when I post a comment though it does publish it.
