Anything should be possible with x theme. After all it’s “the only theme you’ll ever need”.

The site is possible but it would need a little more customization with X theme. Top stories slider below main menu is not available by default. You might want to consider Pro instead. You have freedom to create your own header using PRO. X theme header content is defined by the stack you have chosen. Though all 4 stacks available doesn’t have that option. Using PRO, you can build it on your own.
You might want to check some of our video on youtube to see how it header and footer builder works.
So I guess x theme isn’t, “the only theme you’ll ever need”?!! Not without an upgrade that is.

Because of the custom texts and links in the topbar and the left alignment of the header, @Lely pointed out that the design you want can be easily manage if you use Pro theme. In X, you will be limited to the default header having to only have a center align logo, menu and basic topbar contents which is just the plain texts and social icons. As for the homepage contents, you may use the classic recent posts elements to display the post items of different categories. With X, any layout is possible with a little patience of getting to know the available features and elements that you can use. Plus, we have several bundled plugins that you can install to support your needs. A good example for that would be the Essential Grid and TheGird plugin which can also be use to display post items in the homepage just like in the example url.

Im using the x Theme and would be needing to make something similiar to what Carl55 ask. I need to put an image over de navigation bar just for the index page.
If you could help me out with those plugins that woul be great!

You may create one page slide using revolution slider. Add the image on that slider. Then to add it on the index page, use ABOVE MASTHEAD settings.
