Widgets being replaced on edit

I am having a random issue with a wordpress sidebar, if i add a widget to sidebar and add another widget of same type to the same sidebar all is good, but when i edit one of those widgets and sace, it replaces both with the new edited widget, can someone please help and tell me why this is happening?

i tested further and happens in footer and sidebar. If i add a eg. text widget, then add another text widget under they save fine, but when i edit any of the new text widgets eg. change title of widget, both text widgets replace to the newly edited one, and when i check code it is showing the right id but showing the wrong data, please help

The issue is on save, when i save a change to a widget it get replaced but only affects widget with the same type, it is super weird and never encountered this before

When you see sidebar code you have the 2 bottom sidebar widget one is category-posts-21 and the other category-posts-20 but they show the same content but shouldn’t, they are pulling different data and have a different title, this happens all the time on all pages.

Hi There,

You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

thanks, this was the first thing i tried. It seems to make no difference

i have over 20 licences for this theme and use the same plugins all the time. This issue is new and pretty much breaking the whole widget process

after more testing on dev site maybe i have narrowed issue to custom sidebar plugin but i will test more tomorrow to 100% make sure, its random the way it causes the error but thanks for getting back and will let you know if issue is completely fixed after final testing
