Why has the text menu gone from the hmtl-editor?

I have built six sites for clients in the past few years. I need to be able to maintain those site, and so are my clients. I have noticed that since the uphaul of Conerstone, a number of things have changed but not for the good.

All my sites now all of a sudden consist of ‘classic’ elements, with less possibilities than they had before, making life very hard.

The HMTL-editor in the new text-blocks no longer show the menu for bold, links, etc. Even what you now call ‘classic’ text blocks do not show them anymore, where before they did. This makes it extremely difficult to insert media files. Are there any plans to bring back that menu?

The rich text-option does show this menu, but switching back and forth between rich text and hmtl breaks the code and the lay out. This issue has been known for over half a year no on your forum, but it isn’t fixed yet.

The raw element has disappeared from the new building block.

These changes cost me an enormous amount of time, apart from the fact that I now have to re-explain to my clients how to change things in a version of Cornerstone that has become much more complicated than it was. X should have taken the interests of their existing clients into account in much better way!

Thanks for asking.

Let me address your questions and queries:

1. Classic and V2 elements: From the feedback we analysed that customers preferred the ease that classic elements provided to design websites. That’s why V2 elements are not disabled by default. You can activate the same from X > Settings > User Preference > Advanced Mode select Always On.
   
2. Text element editor has all the features including option to bold, link etc. You probably need to toggle toolbar button. Here is a screencast.
   
3. Raw content and text element are there, we haven’t removed those elements. Please make sure you are using latest version of X Theme and Cornerstone to avoid any conflicts.
