I’m curious what spurs this circumstance:
I usually just copy/paste the field keys, but right now I’m currently working with repeaters and nesting and it’s working against me – I’d like to know how to retain the option selection dropdown if possible! Thanks

Thanks for writing in!
You must be referring to the dropdown when you use the Post > Meta (Custom Field) that look like this:
The above feature is not available when you select ACF in the dynamic content.
