What Pages to use for Login/Register links to add to Header Menu

So I want to add Login/Register links to my header for users to create profiles and login

I know how to add them to the header

My question is, what Page am I actually linking to for them to do this?

I have Buddypress and Woocommerce installed

So I assume they may have an option to create a profile during checkout, but I’m not sure. I don’t even see a Login/Register option for the Forums I created using Buddypress - ohiocannabis.com/forums

What’s the best way for me to go about this?

Thanks!

Hi John,

Thanks for reaching out.
I would suggest you go through the following article on the same.

Alternatively, you can use the following plugin available in the WordPress repository.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Hmm I’m surprised there just isn’t something baked into the Core of Wordpress.

So you would suggest that Login-Logout-Menu plugin over the one in the first article, ProfilePress? (this one seems a bit nicer, but I’ll go with whatever one will work best)

Does this then have a “My Account” page available to them so they can check on various things, including their orders?

I suppose this isn’t required for them to checkout, but I think adds a some structure for their browsing.

I do not want them to be required to create a profile to checkout and buy a product though.

This won’t require them to create one will it?

Hello John,

You already have BuddyPress and WooCommerce plugins installed in your site, right? You can make use of the built in pages from those plugin. Please try to check this out:

Or you can go to the BuddyPress or WooCommerce settings to find out which pages were assigned to the Login or Register page so that you can use it to add a menu item in your header menu. Kindly check out these articles:

Hope this helps.

Ok, yes that is correct, I have both Buddypresss & Woocommerece installed. So after reading those I explored around my Dashboard.

I already had New Users Enabled in Settings>General

There is just a single login for the entire site right? So whatever login that Buddypress creates, it will be usable for them through Woocommerce to checkout with products too right?

Since I want to add a Login/Register link to my website menu and the Woocommerece My Account can probably work for a catch-all.

If you’re not logged in, it asks you for username and password or to reset password

But it doesn’t have a “Register New Account” option on it’s page

How do I add that to the My Account Page and what Page is actually visited by users for this purpose?

I would assume there would be some kind of Register/Create Account page already setup and I wouldn’t have to create a new Page for that would I?

I looked through my Pages and didn’t see anything titled Login/Register or anything, so I wasn’t sure.

Hello John,

Normally, you’ll have https://example.com/my-account/ for the My Account page. If you are not logged in, it automatically displays the login form. And if you allow user registration, you should also be seeing a link to the sign up form. Perhaps this will help you:

Best Regards.

Hmm ok, I’ll read through those and see if I can spot anything.

But here is my Settings>General>New User enabled:

But here is the My Account page and it shows everything but New User Registration?

Why isn’t it showing and what can I do to make it so?

This New User Registration has been enabled this whole time, so it’s def not a cache issue not populating it.

Also, any idea why the My Account page looks very clunky and kind of all smashed together instead of presented better visually?

Thanks!

Hello John,

There is also a setting in WooCommerce plugin that needs to be enabled first. Please check out this articles as well:

Best Regards.

Ahh that’s what I was missing and it is now showing a Register option once I enabled that in woocommerce

The look/design seems rather bland, is there anything within Pro/Cornerstone I can do to make the page look better?

Thanks!

Hi John,

You can customize the My Account page by creating the Single Layout and assigning it to the My Account Page as shown in the first screenshot. You can also create WC Single Layout, and assign the condition Account is being viewed as shown in the second screenshot.

You can also use the predefined template while using the WC Single layout, as shown in the following screenshot.

Hope it helps.
Thanks
