What does Unlocking a license means?

Like in the title. I had 2x X licenses, which I both converted to Pro. Now in the interface for each of 2 Pros I have 2 licenses, one from ThemeForest (purchased) and one from Themeco (converted). There is a little padlock near by the latter, which upon clicking it there is an info that:

Unlock License
Do you want to unlock the license dce*****----******? This will allow this license to be transfered/registered again by another user.

I am able to validate my site with both licenses (ThemeForest and Themeco), so both are proper, so what does this “Unlocking” mean?

Hi klepow,

Hope you’re well today.

Unlocking a license is like freeing a license from your account. If you unlock a license, it allows the license to be transferred/registered to another apex account. This would be helpful if you have multiple accounts and you want to move one license to another account. You just have to unlock the license from the account where it is currently registered in then from the other account, reregister the license.

So for example in case of an advanced client of mine who would like to have a license under which I built his site registered for his own Themeco account?

Yes. Let’s say a client want’s the licence under his/her own Themeco account, you need to unlock the licence for the same.
