Hi there,
I have looked on many similar threads but still unsure of how to do this in the right order.
I have purchased a new domain on the same hosting provider and want to migrate my x theme site to the new domain.
I am unsure about exactly what to do and in what order.
I have read this article: https://theme.co/docs/how-to-migrate-your-site
But the article is about how to migrate to ‘your’ hosting and that is not what i want to do. I want to stay with my hosting provider but just change to a different domain name.
Please can you help me.
Many thanks.
Hello Emma,
Thanks for writing in! Please contact your hosting provider and ask them how you can add your newly purchased domain to their hosting. You also need to contact the domain registrar to find out how you can point your domain name to your current hosting provider. And then, you need to install WordPress to your newly added domain name in your hosting then you can do the migration.
Hope this makes sense.
Dear Ruenel,
Thank you for your reply.
I purchased my new domain from my current hosting provider.
I have installed wordpress for the new domain too.
What is my next step please?
Hi Emma,
Both the old domain and the new domain are two independent sites under the same hosting. Now that your new domain has WordPress already set up, you can log in to the old domain and install the All in One WP Migration plugin and use that to migrate your site from the old domain to the new domain. You need to install the plugin on both sites by the way.

Hi Ruenel,
All in One WP Migration plug in worked a treat! Thank you
I also logged into my theme.co account and unlocked the license and changed the location for the license. Is this all i need to do for updating the license?
I read some different things about revoking it but couldn’t see that screen so am thinking process has been simplified since then?
I have two issues now.
Firstly, my google map has this error: oops something went wrong.
I am using an API key and have already added the new site to the key so shouldnt be a problem there. Also just in case the api key cant be used by two sites simultaneously, I deleted the map from the old site. No change. When i refresh the site the map appears for a split second before the error message shows.
Secondly, my 6 months support runs out tomorrow (7th october). Is there any way I can get this extended? Maybe for another few weeks until everything completed?
I have really appreciated your support on this forum when I have needed it.
Emma
Me again!
I fixed the maps issue. Went back to API credentials and added site name again and it worked.
So all seems to be OK
We are delighted to assist you with this.
Cheers!
