I want to remove X theme for now. This is the first theme I’ve bought and the first web site I’m developing, so I’m sorta hesitant to do anything at all! I think these are the steps to follow in order to delete X, but I am not sure if this is the correct sequence to do them: 1) clear cache, 2) activate another theme, 3) deactivate X Theme, 4) delete X Theme, 5) delete Cornerstone plugin, 6) revoke authorization by removing the URL assigned to my license… Is this the correct order? Is this everything I need to do? Please advise. and thanks!
Hello Mike,
Thanks for writing in!
Before deleting X Theme and Cornerstone, I would like to inform you that post deleting the theme and plugin any pages or posts that you designed using Cornerstone won’t work. On front end you will see plain shortcodes showing up because Cornerstone is not present.
To delete X Theme and Cornerstone, you can follow the steps that you have outlined in the ticket.
Thanks.
Thanks for the prompt reply. Do I need to follow these steps in any particular order?
Hi Mike,
Here are the steps you should take:
- Install the other theme.
- Activate the other theme (it will automatically deactivate the X theme).
- Delete the X theme
- Deactivate and Delete the Cornerstone plugin
You do not need to worry about the validation. You can re-validate the theme whenever you decide to use the X theme again later.
I also need to double down the same case my colleague made. If you added pages and used the Cornerstone plugin to create those page, you will lose the styling of those page, and you will see a bunch of code. In such a case, you need to recreate the page using the WordPress editor or whatever page builder the new theme recommends.
Thank you.
