Weird Issues with Cornerstone

Hello, I am trying to figure out why Cornerstone suddenly isn’t working properly on my site.

When I click a page to edit, it actually doesn’t show me the ‘Edit with Cornerstone’ button on the ‘Visual Tab’ (or even the option to edit with Cornerstone) even though the page was created through Cornerstone. It shows all the shortcodes used to format the page.

Also, when I do edit using Cornerstone (by clicking edit with Cornerstone in the Pages menu (not the actual page)), it loads when I have an adblocker on, but it won’t load when my ad blocker is off.

The error I get when I try to edit using Cornerstone with my adblocker off is:

‘The preview was unresponsive after loading. This is most often related to a plugin conflict or aggressive page cacheing.’

So I was able to fix some issues with my hosting service. However, one issue remains. For some reason, Cornerstone will only load when adblock is on. It turns up as a blank, grey page when I try to edit with Cornerstone with adblock off. Could you look into it?

Thank you for the credentials, would you mind to clarify what adblock you’re using? I have this Adblock extension on Chrome either I disable or enable that, your donation page opens up on Cornerstone.

Are you running some kind of Ads on your site?

I am using uBlock Origin as my adblock.

Could you provide me with the scripts to unblock?

However, if it works with adblock on and doesn’t when adblock is off and if it works for you, doesn’t that mean that it’s not a server issue?

Update: I just wanted to let you know that I have replicated this issue on Edge (working with uBlock Origin but not when adblock is off), but not on Opera.

Update 2: Replicated the issue in Incognito with uBlock Origin disabled for incognito mode.

Could it possibly be that it times out before it can load properly?

It works without adblock on my end, this only confirms that it’s due to adblock mechanism. The adblock doesn’t block any scripts from cornerstone, but it’s indirectly affected by the resources that won’t load.

Cornerstone will capture all assets and resources and load it before it starts its preview, hence, cornerstone will wait until those resources are loaded. If Adblock will block those resources (ADS) then cornerstone will keep on waiting since there is no way for the cornerstone to tell if it’s blocked or not. Hence, the timeout will happen in the cornerstone loading process, and it will not work.

Hi,

You mentioned that Cornerstone will wait for all resources to be loaded. Is there any way to bypass this for ads? As in, have Cornerstone load without waiting for the ads.

Regretfully, what you are trying to achieve will require changing code in theme’s core files which we don’t recommend and is outside the scope of support. You can try contacting Adblock support regarding this issue.
