Website won't always scroll in iPhone

I have just launched a new website, but it doesn’t always scroll on iPhone. I have already read other posts on this forum, but none of them seems to fix my issue. The website is https://engenius.eu

Hey @convertis,

I checked your site on an iPhone 11 and I could scroll up to the bottom of the page. Please try clearing your browser’s cache and try scrolling again. Please also try the browser’s incognito mode.

If the issue persists on your end, try setting all Height of the Footer Bar to auto.

Thanks.

Unfortunately the issue still persists. I’ve created a screen recording of the issue on an iPhone 11 Pro using a new private tab in Safari. Here is the Dropbox link to the video.

Hey @convertis,

I checked your site on my iPhone 11 and I don’t experience any scrolling issue. Would you mind clearing your browser’s cache? Also, try loading your site in incognito or private mode and other browsers available on your iPhone.

If the issue happens in other browsers as well, please give us the browser name and version number and we’ll try if we can test on the specific browser.

With regards to the double scrollbar which was an indication of scrolling issue, it’s fixed, by the way.

Thanks.

Hey @christian, exact same issue in Chrome (both normal and private tab). Same iPhone, Chrome 81.0.4044.124

Hi @convertis,

I experienced the problem only if I load the page for the first time and for the first scroll. After that, it works correctly.

Would you please kindly do the tests below so that we can pinpoint the potential cause of the problem?

  1. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  2. Install this plugin to be able to duplicate one of your pages. Then please go to the page using WordPress dashboard and change the Page Attribute to Blank - No Container | No header, No footer. That way you will force to remove Header and Footer on that page. Test the front end on mobile and see if the Header or Footer might be the problem cause.
  3. Use a blank page and this time do not use Pro content builder and use the default, WordPress Gutenberg, to add some text and stuff and see if the problem persists.

kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case if you still have problems.

Thank you.

The issue appears to be in the header or the footer. Since the issue disappeared when I tested your second point. How can we resolve this?

Hi @convertis,

I see you have a fix height on your header bar and that actually commonly cause a scrolling issue on some screen since that is not responsive.

Please set your bar’s height to auto and just apply a padding on it if you need to.

Thanks,

I just removed the fixed height for the header bar and cleared the cache, but the issue still persists. Please advice.

Hi @convertis,

I went to the Test page that you have created and tested the case by setting the page to have a header and no footer and it worked with no problem.
That lead me to assume the problem is the footer. I used the Hide During Breakpoint option of each Bar in the footer to find out the problem cause and found out it it the second bar which contains social media images.
Then I checked each container of that bar and I found out that the middle container of the Mobile bar (Container 2) is the problem cause.

As soon as I hide that container on mobile it scrolls with no problem. I am not sure why this is happening but I suggest that you recreate that container for mobile view. I suggest that you use the Social element instead of images.

You can force the social element to show exactly what you want by selecting the proper Icon for each social media. To read more about the Social element please check the link below:

Thank you.

Hi Christopher, this fixed it for me. Thank you very much!

You’re welcome. Glad we’re able to help.
