Website accessing a page that no longer exists

I have a menu that is loading an old page by the same slug name. A new page has been built with the same slug name as the old page. As far as I can tell, the old page no longer exists. It certainly doesn’t appear in the Pages tab. From memory it was deleted a year or two back. Even although the page is not in the pages tab, it is still loading??? In the process of trying to resolve the problem, the new page has an iframe response error and will not load for edit - an iframe error means nothing to me. Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Website is: www.found.rest
The page is called: The Way (slug:theway)

Hi Craig,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have checked the slug and found it is showing the 404 Not Found error. There might be some different reasons behind your issue, and I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us recognize the reason.

1.Theme Related Issue
2.Plugin Conflict
3.Theme Update related issue
4.CSS/JS Customization
5.Disabling Cache
6.Disabling CDN
7.Permalink

Hi

I have tried the suggestions and I have had no success. The menu selection in question still loads an old deleted page. The wage in question still does not load to edit with Cornerstone. The error : The preview could not load due to the iframe response being incomplete.
Upon further research there appears to be a fault in the pages tab. There is only 36 pages present (manually counting each page) , yet the page number count next to ALL is 37. Is it possible this is the phantom page that has not deleted properly but is hidden from view.
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

I have an update to my issue.

I have been able to locate the page that was being referenced and I have now deleted it. The error I have now is that when loading the page cannot be found. It is there - the page is in my pages tab and it is listed in the menu. I can quick edit and edit but I cannot load the page in cornerstone due to the iframe response being incomplete. I have cleared the cache - and its structure is identical to other pages that are displaying so it cannot be a plugin issue. As already mentioned the naming structure has been used before - is this causing a conflict somewhere? Thank you

I have a further update.

My issue is completely related to the page NAME. I have renamed the page for testing purposes and it now both loads in cornerstone and loads on the web. There is obviously an issue with that name - there must be a record of it being stored somewhere. So now the question is, where is that name being stored and how can it be deleted so that I can use the name again? And yes cache on the server has been deleted. Thanks

Hi Craig,

The name is stored in the database tables and can’t be deleted as you are expecting. If you permanently delete a page from Trash, you can create another page with the same name and slug.

Thanks

Hi

The issue is I have permanently deleted the page from trash and I still have the problem. My guess it it has not updated the database table. Are you able to do this manually?

Hi Craig,

I have tested this before in my local environment and it was working fine.

Thanks
