Webp Image Integration

How would we go about allowing a plugin like WebP Express to work with your theme?
Do you think it function properly for Pages, Posts, and the Rev. Slider?
Do I also need Cache Enabler?
Will this allow WebP images to be served to Google Chrome while still allowing jpg images to be displayed on other non-compatible browsers?
Thank you for your advice.
Loren

Hello Loren,

Thanks for writing in! We always make sure that we follow all the WordPress standards just like any other plugin. As long as the WebP plugin follows the standards, it should work with the theme smoothly. Unless otherwise the plugin needs custom coding for integration before it can work in the theme, WebP should function properly for pages posts, etc.

Hope this helps.

Which is better WebP Express or Imagify – WebP & Image Compression and Optimization?

I also saw a reviewer comment that “WebP is not compatible with Revolution Slider…” . Please let me know before I move in this direction to speed up my site page loading time.

Hey Loren,

Regretfully, we can’t recommend nor comment on which image optimization plugin is better because we haven’t officially performed a thorough test on such plugins. A better channel to ask this type of questions is our Peer to Peer forum.

Below, you can watch this unofficial image optimization test using various plugins. Please just note that it’s not a recommendation nor we will support issues coming resulting from image optimization

Most image optimization plugins convert JPG/PNG images to WebP in the front-end so it doesn’t matter what plugin displays image.

Hope that helps.
