Web host says Theme X is causing high TTFB?

My TTFB is around 8 seconds. I called my web host, and they said testing is from Theme X.

I’m assuming it’s something I did wrong in my design. How do I fix it?

Hello Nicholas,

Thanks for writing in! I have checked your site and this is what we have:

To improve your site’s performance, kindly check out this documentation:

Or you can check out these video tutorials too!

Hope this helps. Kindly let us know how it goes.

Thanks. I’ve done most of this and some other suggestions, and it’s getting better. But I still have around 5 second loading times. What else can be done?

I have Bluehost, which I suspect is some of the issue.

Hello Nicholas,

You will have to minify your HTML, CSS and JS resources.

And you may also use the Critical Path CSS:

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Done everything here, and had an IT friend look at my site. He said it’s pretty decent so far, and there’s nothing more I could do to lower the TTFB; so it’s either Bluehost or the theme being too much for what I’m doing, I’m going to back up this site and try a reinstall of X Theme this week and see if that fixes anything, but at this point, I’m not that hopeful.

Hey Nicholas,

Yes you can try re-installing the theme but to improve site performance I’d suggest you tp also try compressing your images (https://theme.co/docs/how-to-improve-site-performance#image-compression) and make sure you are fully updated (theme and plugins see https://theme.co/docs/version-compatibility). In addition to that try removing or deactivating the plugins that are not in use.

Hope this helps!
