Web crash caused by Post grid

Hello,
we have problem with Post Grid on some of our websites. If we let Post Grid on in Essential addons and we do update of Theme X and Cornerstone to latest version, website will crash (only frontend). Post Grid is part of X package.

What do you advice?

Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? Please provide following information:

Set it as Secure Note

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password
  • FTP credentials

Hi, this happened on all our sites which are using Post Grid.

The width of the site is significantly reduced, and the page ends in the exact spot where Post Grid was meant to be - this prevents the rest of the page and footer from loading which in turn leads to other problems. The administration is not affected, only the front-end.

Regretfully, we can’t access your website du to IP restriction. I suggest that you disable the IP restriction for the meantime.

Hi @nezzazvoni,

As we are from different parts of the World and most of us have a dynamic IP so we can’t provide a specific IP address for whitelisting too.

Alternatively, I would like to request you to remove the IP(s) restrictions or you can copy your live site to a staging server without IP restrictions, so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your site.

the IP restriction should be removed from the url I sent you earlier. Could you please take a look?

Please note that we had to come up with some solution in the meantime, so we deactivated the Post Grid in Essentials Addons for Cornerstone, removed the original Post element and substituted it with the new Post element in the latest theme X version.

Also the problem manifested itself on few other sites using similar setup - e.g. nezzazvoni.cz and slshranice.cz. We have few dozens clients websites built on theme X, so we really need systematic solution - we can’t afford to retroactively update every single site with the new Post element.

Hi @nezzazvoni,

Regretfully, the Essential Addons plugin is no longer supported by X theme, as the plugin is not updated itself with the latest Theme and WordPress updates. So please avoid it while using the updated version of X theme.

Well we can avoid using it in the future, but as I mentioned - we have dozens of website which will crash once somebody push the update button. Are you really saying that there is nothing we can do to avoid it??

Regretfully, there is no such other way I can suggest you. Still, if you want you can contact the plugin author on this.
