My website is https://www.die-pluritexterin.at. I am using the Child Theme for X - Integrity and I have the following issue.
I have done an evaluation of my site’s web accessibility and get the following error: “This link contains no text”. It refers to the social media icons on the bottom of my website. How and where do I add the text required for screen readers?

Thanks for writing in! The only way you can add text required for screen readers is to modify the social icons. Since the child theme is set up, please add the following code in your child theme’s functions.php file

Thank you for your reply. I have tried to add the code and I get the following error:
“Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errors, so the PHP change was reverted. You will need to upload your PHP file change by some other means, such as by using SFTP.”
How can I fix this?

I did a little research and found out that others where having the same issue with other Wordpress Themes.
I deleted all deactived plugins and also my browser cache. After that I re-tried adding the code above and everything works fine now. I no longer have web accessibility issues as well.
